Looks like another one bites the dust as it has been reported that fashion brand Topshop will be closing down by June 2021. You might have noticed that the British brand has been advertising their “Goodbye Sale” with up to 70% off on social media recently, informing customers that this will be the last chance to buy their apparel.
The Goodbye Sale that is currently ongoing at Topshop Malaysia mentions that it will end on 31 May 2021 but China Press has reported that the brand will be going through two stages of closure. The first stage will involve branches in other states closing down by end of this month while the second stage will see Klang Valley branches closing down in June 2021. A quick check on their social media pages shows that Topshop Malaysia has not been updating their posts since March 2021.
The brand in Malaysia is managed by Wing Tai Clothing Malaysia, a subsidiary of Wing Tai Holdings. The group manages many favourite brands across Asia, including Topshop in Singapore. Hence, this news does not come as a huge surprise as the group announced that all Topshop physical stores were closed in Singapore in September 2020.
What’s saddening is that it looks like it’s not only Topshop Malaysia that is affected but other popular brands that are under the same subsidiary. Fashion Fast Forward, which is under Wing Tai Clothing Malaysia has officially announced that they will be coming to an end. In the post on their Facebook page, the Goodbye Sale will have similar discounts of up to 70% off but if you purchase three items, you are entitled to get another 20% off. Fashion brands under the company that look like they are affected by closures include Burton Menswear London, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Topshop, Topman and Wallis.
If you’re looking to grab some pieces of your favourite brand before they are officially gone, it looks like now may be the best time to do so.
